Land Development Professional Engineer
Job Summary
Lead project teams consisting of internal and external members from various disciplines to provide timely, accurate, and cost efficient delivery of engineering projects including studies, design, and/or construction engineering services which involve the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Responsible for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned engineering work, monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, Client, and DMP standards. Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.
- Coordinate with Client and Business Development to define the project goals, objectives, budgets, deliverables, and schedule.
- Develop proposals and scope of work to meet the project goals and objectives.
- Acquire resources and coordinate efforts of team members and third-party contractors as consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
- Perform work in accordance with DMP’s and/or the client’s standards for projects and project process.
- Monitor the Team progress. Work and coordinate with Department Supervisor to adjust staffing or effort to complete within Schedule and Budget.
- Monitor scope of work and identify items which are outside of contractual scope and promptly request Schedule or Schedule or Fee adjustments are needed.
- Prepare Contract Amendments to adjust scope and fees as warranted.
- Provide regular updates to Client and Team members as to scope, schedule and fee adjustments.
- Assist Accounting Department to prepare monthly invoices and implement collection activities on past due accounts.
- Interact and strengthen relationships with existing clients.
- In coordination with Business Development seek new client relationships and build growing business relationships vital to the success of the project and company.
- Analysis of conventional engineering work on projects related to water/wastewater conveyance systems, urban streets, site development, stormwater, erosion control, water/wastewater treatment, and similar municipal infrastructure systems.
- Interpret applicable regulations and design criteria related to specific projects.
- Planning, estimating, design work, and other engineering tasks.
- Preparation of exhibits, drawings, draft specifications, and bidding documents.
- Assist with CAD drafting and/or engineering design calculations.
- Preparation of permits for engineering projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as apparent.
- Must maintain a valid drivers license and clean driving record to be able to safely operate
a company vehicle. Must be able to drive a company vehicle to job sites, meetings with
clients, conferences, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required with course work in related subjects preferred.
Experience: This is an intermediate level position which requires experience as would be found in a person with professional work experience in the Civil Engineering field.
Certification: North Carolina Professional Engineer’s license or be able to obtain by comity.
Water/Wastewater Design Engineer
Job Summary
This position will lead and direct the development of water/wastewater projects as a client-facing project manager, leveraging the candidate’s experience in water distribution system, wastewater collection system, pump/lift station, water/wastewater treatment facility, and stormwater management engineering including investigations, studies, analysis, design, and construction administration services. Clients will primarily be in local/state government sector, however some clients may be in the privately owned utility sector.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage the planning, design, and construction administration of projects to ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications,codes, statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Preparation of exhibits, drawings, draft specifications, and bidding documents.
- Computer drafting and/or design of subdivisions.
- Preparation of permits.
- Communicate with project teams establishing goals, and objectives for project teams, and scheduling and coordinating resources to deliverprojects on time, within budget, and to performance expectations.
- Perform work in accordance with the firm’s standards for projects and project process.
- Work directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients including local Municipalities.
- Support teams in the marketing and proposal phases of projects including preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations, as well as developing scopes of work and budgets for various water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.

Geomatics Project Manager
Job Summary
Lead project teams consisting of internal and external members from Surveying in order to provide timely, accurate, and cost efficient delivery of geomatic projects including loan surveys, Alta surveys, GPS surveys, easement mapping, site development plans, topographic mapping as well as other surveying services which involve the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. Responsible for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned survey work, monitor work for compliance to applicable professional standards, accepted survey practices, Client, and DMP standards. Ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.
- Coordinate with Client and Survey team to define the project goals, objectives, budgets, deliverables, and schedule.

Geomatics Crew Chief
Job Summary
Plans, organizes, and directs work of one or more survey crews engaged in surveying earth’s surface to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining or other purposes. The major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, meets regulatory requirements) of work, safety, meeting schedules, within budgets, responsive service to clients, and presenting a professional image with the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Organize field work, direct crew members, maintain safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locating features, deliver data to the office, maintain accurate records of work hours and expenses for entire crew.
- Perform computations and QA/QC checks on work performed.
- Ability to communicate ideas and technical information to staff, supervisors and clients in a professional manner.
- Identify potential issues ahead of time and be able to problem solve.
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Frequently inspect and supervise job operations and may be exposed to ongoing construction activity. Ability to access all areas of the jobsite is required for this position.
- Research and interpret previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, engineering drawings, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
- Develops new data from photogrammetric records.
- Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
- Coordinates findings with work of engineering personnel, clients, and other trades concerned with project.
- Must be punctual and have good attendance.
- Must maintain a valid drivers license and clean driving record to be able to safely operate a company vehicle to job sites. Must be able to drive a company vehicle to job sites and around job sites.

- Assist in performing field surveys using tools such as total stations, GPS equipment, and levels to collect precise measurements.
- Set up and maintain survey equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Mark and record survey points, boundaries, and reference markers as directed by the Survey Crew Chief.
- Clear brush, debris, or other obstacles to ensure clear lines of sight for survey measurements.
- Carry and transport equipment to and from survey sites, often in rugged or remote locations.
- Take detailed field notes and sketches to document survey data and observations.
- Work closely with the Geomatics Crew Chief and other team members to ensure efficient and accurate survey completion.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the field.
- Assist in basic calculations and data verification under the supervision of the Survey Crew Chief.
- Maintain and clean survey vehicles and equipment to ensure proper working condition.
- Ability to communicate ideas and technical information.
- Ability to work under pressure and perform numerous activities in a team setting.
- Must be punctual and have good attendance.
